The City of Split is the second largest city in the country and the largest city in the Dalmatia region, Croatia. Split City was originally built around Diocletian’s Palace (a fortress-like palace built for the retired Roman emperor Diocletian), where the locals sought refuge many centuries ago.
However, despite initial appearance, the city is not a small tourist town. It extends over a large area, well beyond the ancient city centre. Modern Split is a city with 180 000 inhabitants.
Because of its ideal climate, with 2,800 hours of sunlight per year and the winters are mild.
Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance between tradition and modernity. Our apartment is in the middle of Diocletian’s Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments) and you’ll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split has been humming along for thousands of years. This Split rental property lies right in the heart of it,
